Astrology Rocks

How a stone is determined to be suited to a particular zodiac sign is really up to the person making that determination.  You can search the internet and find as many different stones for your sign as there are signs.

I’ll take my sun sign as an example. Doing a quick search I now have the following list for Leo persons, (from five different articles on popular sites): Pyrite, Adamite, Tiger’s Eye, Carnelian, Black Onyx, Rutile Quartz, Citrine, Orange Calcite.

If I do a bit of research based on some of the more popular literature on the subject, I find that Rutile is recommended for Taurus and Gemini, but not Leo, Adamite for Cancers… It can get confusing.

Better yet are the characteristics some of these stones are being recommended for; energizing, self confidence, speaking your truth, motivation... I can assure you I don’t need any energizing and a lack of motivation also isn’t a factor in my life at the moment. I could however use some grounding and stress relief every now and then. We are not static beings and our needs change even if our astrological signs do not.

Basing your choices on your Sun sign is not a better method for choosing than any other, in fact I find it less useful. I’m not an astrologer but I do know that our sun sign is but one aspect of our zodiacal chart and perhaps not the one that needs the most attention at the moment. If you’re going to base your choice of stones on your chart, you might want to consult a professional astrologer to determine what houses and planets need support at the present time, and choose stones based on that. Just because a stone has attributes that suggest it’s a Leo stone doesn’t mean a person with his or her sun is Leo needs a dose of fire and masculine energy. In fact, they may need just the opposite.

This of course completely ignores the Eastern astrological practices, such as Vedic astrology and Chinese astrology.  If you delve into those systems, you'll find another list of completely different stones for your birth chart.

My recommendation for choosing stones is to identify areas in your life that need a helping dose of stable energy and seek out the stones that will support that. I would start with your emotional health, because that informs your health in general. If you’re stressed out, identify what may be causing that and work on alleviating it on all levels. The stones that I chose when at wits end had nothing to do with colors or types of stones I had been attracted to in the past, and even less to do with with my zodiacal sign but they did the trick and I’m grateful to them for that. You can enter a word, such as stress, joy, anxiety... in the search bar on any of my pages and get links to stones and articles that might help with that particular issue. Alternately you can email me with questions.

When picking a crystal do go with your intuition. If you’re attracted to a certain stone I’ve found it’s usually for a very good reason. The stones I find myself attracted to have changed considerably in the past few years and I imagine yours might as well. Some would say the stones choose you but our egos like to think that we do {wink}.
